XI'AN, CHINA (BNO NEWS) -- At least four people were killed and a fifth buried after a construction site accident in northwestern China, officials said Wednesday.

The accident occurred when a equipment collapsed at a construction site of a carpet factory in the city of Yulin in Shaanxi province at around 10 a.m. local time.

The collapse trapped a total of eighteen workers at the time of the accident, according to the city government, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Emergency teams reached the site, and as of 7:30 p.m. local time, rescuers had found 17 workers, although four of them were confirmed dead. The remaining worker remains buried.

No further details were immediately available, but local authorities launched an investigation into the case.
