NAKHON RATCHASIMA: -- Three guns were used in the fatal gunfight between people in two cars that claimed the life of Farut Thaiseth, the 27-year-old son of Chada, an Uthai Thani MP for the coalition Chart Thai Pattana Party, in Nakhon Ratchasima's Pak Chong district last week.

Meanwhile, party adviser Banharn Silpa-archa visited Chada yesterday and urged him to be cautious, as the motive for the shooting remained unclear.

Police now suspect the drama stemmed from a road rage incident, chief investigator Pol Colonel Wachirawit Kritritthisak, deputy Nakhon Ratchasima police chief, said. An inspection of spent bullets found at the scene showed there were three guns involved; two 9mm pistols and a .380 pistol, with the latter belonging to Farut.

Investigators also visited garages in Pak Chong, Wang Nam Khieo and nearby areas to look for the culprits' vehicles, he said.

Nakhon Ratchasima police will interview Chada, an unnamed woman and three people who were in the car with Farut in Uthai Thani tomorrow. Chada had said earlier it might be unsafe for the three eyewitnesses to travel to the province where the crime occurred.

Nakhon Ratchasima police chief Ong-ard Phewreungnont was told in a meeting of investigators yesterday that an inspection of an modified Mitsubishi pickup found in Pak Chong's Tambon Chanteuk had not yielded any evidence to link it to the murder. He ordered police to interview Farut's witnesses in detail and take photographic evidence, and affirmed that the probe was in full swing.

Banharn, meanwhile, yesterday visited Chada's residence in Muang Uthai Thani to give his condolences and morale support. He went to talk with Chada and family members in private for an hour before returning. He told reporters what happened was unexpected and since the case remained unclear he urged Chada to be extra cautious. He apologised Chada for not being able to attend Farut's burial ceremony, as he had another matter to undertake.

Very specific road rage then. What did they do, manufacture some agro on purpose against a car they thought contained Chada, who had a few moments before changed cars to his beemer? And then strafe it and be retaliated in a pitched gun battle like something out of Terminator.

.380 is a small semi-automatic, not a revolver. I doubt the 9mms were Uzis, HK MP5's, or the like, therefore semi-automatics.
