Best Time For 90 Day Reports At Immigration

The last time I reported I arrived quite early and got my name on "the list" to get called for a queue number. The place was just jammed as we waited in line and I am wondering if arriving more like 10 AM might be a better idea. Besides doing it by mail, what time is best for 90 day reports these days?

If people publicised the best time to go, it would no longer be the best time to go.

However, its been publicised a bit too much lately, so I'm thinking the next tactic might be to out it completely thus creating a new best time slot.

Last time I reported in was lunch time. There was a person at the counter. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

Geez, you never had your usual 2 hour social intercourse. Lucky it wasn't AA. wink.png

About 3:00 is good. Last Thursday went just after 3 stood in a very short line and was finished in less than 10 minutes. All that lining up at 7:30 isn't needed for a 90 day report.

I think it's time for a Thai Visa survey!

Anyway, my personal vote would be for 3 - 4 pm.

11 am - noon would be my second choice.

Early-early-early would be my last choice. Let all the people seeking the limited number of queue tickets for visa extensions finish their morning shoving match. Those of us in need of a 90 day report should just get out of their way, stay home and sleep in!

I really have a feeling from many dozens of posting on this that it is just the luck of the draw.

One day, 3 PM is the cat's meow.

Next day, 3PM sucks.

When you think of the 100's of farang resident here, who don't all move in lock step and come in precisely 1 day before the reporting is due (2 weeks before, 7 days after is the time window), then factor in all the new arrivals who are coming in for the 1st time...there really can't be a way to predict what is a good time.

For several years I was coming to Thailand on tourist visas because I still had work connections back home. It was 90 days Thailand 90 home country. During this time when in Thailand I was staying in Phitsanulok. So visa extensions were done at immigration there. On a bad day there were 5 or 6 people at immigration. Most days I was the only one.. Last November we moved to Chiang Mai and now I do 90 day reports. What a shock when I went to Chiang Mai immigration the first time.

^^ It used to be like PLok a few years back when it were in the other little house (for reporting, that is)--in/out 5 mins--then some prick said CM was the best place to retire...

This past Thursday, in at 2:45 PM, no ticket straight to counter, all paperwork completed before arrival, signed sealed and returned by the friendly officer with a reminder that my retirement visa was due for renewal Oct 1, out the door at 2:55 PM..............Sure beats 10 years ago going into the little house on the other side of the parking lot where the officer in charge had a real attitude if he didn't like the way you parted your hair. Even the kids working the counter would scatter when he walked out of his office. And setting out in the sun for hours waiting to renew your visa...........Immigration has improved 100 fold since "the good old days".

Live Update (almost), Jollyrog is right: There has been a PROCESS CHANGE and it took me 8 minutes to get my 90 report done this morning at 10AM. No queue number needed and you just step right up to the counter and get in line. Only two people in front of me and zip, I was done.

Thinking back, I didn't even see the queue machine so if anyone knows how to do other things, post away.
