Is there anything good about getting old?
I chose the better path so I didn't have any children to grow as adults. I didn't waste any of my life apart from the lost years in my 2 relationships with toxic women. Luckily it wasn't a great deal of my life, just a couple of extended interludes between better things I admit that now I am just wasting time waiting to pass over the great divide, but the body isn't up to much any more. Being insulted on AN is about as exciting as my life gets now. -

Truck Crashes Into School Vehicle at Intersection, Injuring Multiple Students
Picture from responders, CCTV below. At approximately 15:40 on December 9, a truck collided with a car, which then struck a school transport vehicle and a farm truck at the Pak Puan intersection on Maliwan Road, Pak Puan village, Wang Saphung district, Loei province. The crash resulted in injuries to numerous schoolchildren. Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred during school dismissal. A pickup truck modified as a school vehicle was carrying about 20 students from Pak Puan School, ranging from kindergarten to secondary school levels. The school transport vehicle had stopped at the red light, preparing to turn right into Pak Puan village. Ahead of it was a farm truck loaded with sacks of rice, also stopped at the light, while a white car was positioned behind the school vehicle. Suddenly, a truck, reportedly returning from a construction site and equipped with a lifting crane o the rear, slammed into the car, propelling it into the school vehicle. The impact pushed the school transport vehicle into the farm truck ahead, causing severe damage. Most of the students sitting in the rear of the school vehicle sustained injuries. Among them, a student suffered serious leg injuries, with one leg reported to have been torn off. Emergency responders quickly transported a total of 19 injured individuals to Wang Saphung Hospital for treatment. Police detained the truck driver for questioning and legal proceedings. Pak Puan intersection has been the site of frequent accidents, often caused by drivers running red lights, according to local residents. -- 2024-12-10 ScreenRecording_12-09-2024 18-58-50_1.mp4 -

Disabled under 65 - additional tax allowance!
I went to the office for disabilities in Kalasin city today to request a disabled card. Anybody who is under 65 and can prove a disability can claim an additional 190,000 baht on their yearly tax allowances. They were very slow, I was there five frustrating hours, and he printed a plastic disability card off and then was overruled by a senior, and it was not handed over. After showing them letters from the tax office in my local area, and a letter from a doctor at my hospital confirming I have a disability, I was issued, as a compromise, a certificate of disability for tax purposes. The reason given for not giving a card was these cards are linked to prompt pay and monthly government access to disability funds, so they didn't want to give me one, even though I would have no access to such funds, anyway. It was what we call Red tape when they also said my doctor's form signed and stamped was the wrong form, even though this is what the tax office gave me to take to the hospital. So, that's what you do guys if under 65 and disabled to get a further allowance. FWIW, The offices were well aware of the new tax rules being enforced from January 1st 2024, and it is mentioned in the certificate. -

I was absolutely mortified at what I witnessed yesterday.
Happily you do not dictate what other posters write, though you do express a certain disdain for any that do not conform to your desired dictats. I like Thais as much as you, but unlike you I like them the way they are, not as some version of western sheeple. You should stick to telling your Thai family and friends how to live their lives. Thailand is as I wish western countries were, where people take responsibility for their own actions and the nanny state is not dictating everything they can and can not do. Happily, unless your lot succeed in changing the culture, Thais give the finger salute to western culture and live lives as THEY want to, not as moaning farangs want them to. -
