wimpy
I'm looking for grade #0000 steel wool to buff out a shellac wood finish. Can't find it anywhere. I have showed photos to various tradesmen here, and they look at me with blank stares. Anyone?

jbrain
Why don't you use those green scour pads,it would have the same effect I guess. If you really need the steel wool I would have a look at a stainless steel shop since they use brushes from that material.
wimpy
Thanks. I already order a pack of it off Ebay. $2 for the wool, and $10 shipping. I didn't think of scotch-brite I'll give that a try.
canopy
Steel wool is usually undesirable when working with wood. Invariably what happens is some of the steel fibers get pressed into the wood and create rust streaks in time. Brass wool and brushes are widely available in Thailand paint shops and hardware stores though grades I cannot speak for.
