Is There A Decent Bookshop In Pattya?

There aren't many bookshops anywhere that are much better than Kinokiniya in the Emporium, unless one insists on hard-backs which they don't stock a lot of because they are so difficult to sell to travelers and expats. :o

It's just silly to say that Kino in the Emporium is as good as any bookstore 'anywhere'. Surely you are either an employee or Japanese.

And as to 'hardbacks...are so difficult to sell to...expats' -- what in the world is THAT supposed to mean? They aren't in any other country I know of. Are you suggesting we have a different sort of expat here in Thailand? Nah, you of all people wouldn't be saying that.......

I am a prolific reader and have been all of my life. I also own a small chain of bookstores selling both used and new books and I know what sells well in Thailand and what books are remaindered because they sell very poorly. I am American and have nothing to do with Kinokuniya, other than enjoying the English language branches of their store immensely. :D

Their new shop in Siam Paragon is very good too - bigger if I am not mistaken but I could be.

Last there with my mates daughter and can she spend at 5 year old (English and Thai childrens books)!

Went there yesterday - on the bus at 9 a.m, dropped off at On Nut, jumped on the Skytrain and in the store by 11. (Emporium). It is a seriously GOOD BOOK store. Every non fiction subject you could dream of and an incredible stock of literature.

By the way the CD warehouse next door to Kinokiniya is no slouch either - especially if you are looking for music DVD's, live concerts etc.

Went down to Silom, met up with a load of old mates, back up to Sukhumvit, met another old lag in Washington Square, missed the last bus and had to get a meter taxi to Pattaya. Got home at 2 am; no wife, she was out on the razzle with the maid! (thought I wasn't coming home as I missed the last bus) All's well that ended well :o:D:D That's enough expensive book adventures for one month.
