Teaching Thai To A Thai Who Has Lost The Use Of The Words

Featured Replies

Hey everyone

This is quite an unusual request but .....here it is

Some six weeks ago my companion had a vascular attack leaving him unable to speak, read, write or understand

There has been some progress as he is now able to write, read and pronounce words , but no sentences

He understands a bit better, but not a full question , and words have to be repeated a few times for him to get the meaning, if he gets it

Every day he learns, and repeats, new words but my Thai ( accent ) being what it is I was not getting to far

A couple of days ago I bought a dictaphone and asked him to record some words which he now repeats, not one hundred per cent but that is ok

Does anyone has an idea about what else could be done to he the situation (pedagogic approach) or know any Thai person able to help with some classes ( very short but on a regular basis) in central Bangkok ?

I should add that he is, fortunately, completely autonom apart from his communication skills

Thanks

It sounds like he needs to see a speech therapist, who you should be able to find at most hospitals (at least the major ones).
