Non Immigrant O Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi all - First Post...

My wife applied and received a non-immigrant 0 type multi-entry visa from our local consulate in the U.S. We were under the impression from the consular officer that it was just for 60 days (before renewal, visa run, etc), but we’re seeing only references for such visas being valid for 90 days. Is there such a thing as a 60-day type o non-immigrant visa? If so, what would be the process for renewal or extension (i.e., would it be renewed in-country after 60 days, followed by a visa run 30 days later)?

Thanks...

A Non Imm O Visa gives a stay of up to 90 days.

After 90 days she must leave the country and return to get another 90 days.

Doing a border run just before it expires will get another 90 days , giving a total of almost 15 months.

Thank you L.B. for clearing that up. Most appreciated.

The 60 days may refer to the amount of time you have to use the entry visa. In other words, if you do not enter Thailand within 60 days the visa expires and you need to repeat the original process. Once in Thailand, the 90 days rules apply.

Nope.

The Visa is valid for 12 months and each entry gets 90 days.

Before the end of the 12th month, she can apply for an Extension.

Which gives her another XX months stay. Depending on how long more she needs to stay.

During Extension, she will need to mail in 90 day report, or visit immigration every 90 days.

Required doc and fee are available on other threads.

She has almost 15 months before she has to apply for an extension if she wishes and if she qualifies.

Or she can do earlier.

And she does not have to wait as extension can be applied for during the last 30 days of any 90 day stay.
