Where Do All The Cool Kids Buy Clothing From In Bangkok, Help Please?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I hope you ladies can help a little with my shopping wants

I come to Bangkok 1-2 times a year to buy roughly 200kg of clothing / accessories for my shop here in the UK.

Here are my usual haunts:

Platinum Fashion Mall - Dresses / tops

Around Pratunam area - mixed items bags / clothing

Sampeng - Jewellery / Accessories

JJ Market - Tshirts / some gifty things (as I have a gift section)

I also like the stalls around Siam square that pop up at night

Am I missing out on any cute places the 20 something thai's go for unusual bits that are semi decent quality. I don't mean the touristy stuff as this is sold in a town centre not a beachy environment.

Budget is generally 100-400thb per items depending what it is, I could go higher if it's exceptional quality. Of course I'd normally be buying at least 3 items to get those prices per item.

I actually used to live in BKK but I used to shop in the places Ive already listed above, I moved back to the UK 4years ago so of course new and exciting shopping areas could have sprouted up.

I love the smaller independent type stalls that are not too mass produced.

Any help I'd realllly appreciate ;)

Much Love xxxx

Danielle

Those are the places I would hit too, at least for larger amounts. Maybe you could see a cool kid next time you are in Bangkok and ask them where they get their clothes? I know that Korean fashion is all the rage now

You seem to know the good spots already, I wouldn't bother with anywhere else because most shops get their items from the places you listed anyways. If those aren't enough maybe you need to take a trip to china?

You have pretty much got the good places sussed already.

Those are the places I would go anyways. The other places I know of will have the same stuff in the ones you have already listed.

Kids who want to be cool shop in malls , kids who are cool shop all over the place and make their own individual style. Copycatting what everyone else is wearing is pretty much the opposite of cool.

My point being that buying what all the wanna be cool kids are wearing will be out of fashion by the time you get it back home because it wasn't even cool in the first place.

The teens & twenty something trendies all shop in Siam Square, they love their K Pop Korean fashion, actually I think it might of changed from Siam Square now, Siam Square was known for years as the place to find garments by Thai designers with lots of one offs or items that weren't produced in mass quantity, it seems a lot of these designers/retailers have recently moved to the new shopping mall Terminal 21 at Asok, I forgot what floor they're on but they aren't hard to find, you can't get that stuff anywhere else, you could probably spend a good 2-3 hours looking at all those types of retailers alone!

Some of the designers sell themselves in their shop/stall and some of the retailers buy to sell on from the designers or elsewhere, maybe you could ask the retailers their source, you could find out some wholesalers to approach to get the very cheapest price, but you could probably buy retail in BKK and mark up a decent profit in the west.

Good luck!

You can also buy kids clothes via internet, many shops sell its only in their website or they have main shop in other place.

http://qkidscentshop.com/ The shop is on Ladplakao soi 76.

You can also try to check at Talad Rongklua, http://www.taladrongkluea.com/contact_us.php , it is the big market for second hand clothes/bags/..., also new kids clothes.

Imported kids clothes from Korea, but the shop is in Nongbualamphu province, order via internet. http://www.prettycoolshop.com/?gclid=COKy-fvpubICFcRV3godj20A2Q

JJ market on Friday night, open late until 04:00-05:00 o'clock Saturday.

Most of the above posters are right, you've got the right places. Anywhere else would be selling the same things those places sell, and perhaps even at higher prices!

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate your opinions & help.

I'll check out Terminal 21, if the stall holders are the designers then no doubt they would up for a large order / wholesale.

Mr Real Deal, totally know what you mean, I try to go everywhere when I'm in Bangkok but I only have 4full days buying this time so it's impossible to hit every little shopping area (although I do try).

I'd quite like to find higher quality garments and of course I'm willing to pay more. For example there are some pretty funky phone cases I find in PU leather & would really like to see leather versions available, I'm trying to raise the quality levels in my own store, i'm sure i'll find some gems like I always do ;)

On a side note has anyone had experience using the dtac translation service, Iv'e thought about using it when talking with shop owners, I have some Thai language skills but it's really basic.

In the past I have tried to ask if they are able to do email ordering from the UK but it's always fallen flat once I've got back to the UK and emailed them.

xx

Leather shop, you can find many leather shops (have their own factory) in MBK , one is on ground floor near entrance door, the name is Good Old Days. http://www.goodolddaysshop.com/
