BoonToong
My take on the event is that the policeman was very brave and conscientious in his actions, both commendable and tragic under the circumstances. Rimmer
Off-Duty Police Officer shot dead following armed robbery at Rayong Gold Shop BAN CHANG:An Off-Duty Police Officer was shot and killed as he attended an armed robbery call in Baan Chang, Rayong on Tuesday. The incident occurred at the Jong Ta Worn Gold Shop inside the Baan Chang Market in the afternoon while Police Senior Sergeant Major Wiwat aged 47 was off-duty. He had just returned home from a trip to the nearby market with his 4 months pregnant wife, prior to him getting ready for his night shift at the Police Station. While at home he heard over his Police Radio that an armed incident had just occurred at the Gold Shop which is walking distance from his house. In his civilian clothing he grabbed his Police-issue firearm and proceeded to the location. His wife, Khun Tipawan aged 29, begged him not to go and to wait for Police back-up. He ran out the door and less than 1 minute later his wife heard a total of 3 gun shots. She ran out and saw her husband lying motionless on the street. The officer was rushed to Hospital but was pronounced dead-on-arrival. Witnesses mentioned seeing a total of 4 armed assailants who entered the Gold Shop. Three were detained close-by and a fourth was able to travel to his home in Bor Tong District close to Chonburi City where he staggered into the local Hospital and claimed he had been shot by a local motorbike gang.
