Popular Post webfact
Thai police applicants told they cannot have genital implants or try to enlarge them BANGKOK: -- There has been a lot of news recently of cheating going on for police entrance exams in Thailand. During the recent exams, everyone had to submit themselves to a pat down and go through a metal detector. Now comes news that many people were disqualified from even taking the exams as they failed medical examinations at the Police General Hospital. I presume all of the usual contagious diseases were tested for, but according to the Bangkok Post, many people were disqualified for having tattoos on their body parts. I didn’t realize that was true for police officers, but I do know that people applying for office work will have to make sure that they don’t have any visible tattoos. What was even more surprising is that, according to a police spokeswoman of the Royal Thai Police Office, applicants who failed the health checks also included many who had injected paraffin gel into their genitals, and those that had their genitals implanted with small beads. I am not sure how that would affect their job as this kind of thing has been going on for years in Thailand. Popular Post bkkjames
Funny story Webfact. Hardly News though wouldn't you agree? Kind of explains why they always want to put their hands in your pockets on Sukhumvit, not for drugs but see how things should be.

Psych01
Tattoos are a big no no with any Ratchagaan job, as for the paraffin and beads, mmm!. The implants, well that's just down right silly. I suppose if you don't have any of these makes you a more honest person, that is happy with their life! ;-)

Robbie Dye
Does this however preclude the removal of said genitals by aggrieved citizens? Surely they would be allowed replacements ?

Popular Post Lannatyne
Totally agree. Implants on a Thai policeman should be limited only to a 'functional brain'.

What about tea money, which is a nice way of saying CORRUPTION. What about their inability to enforce the law. And their inability to follow the laws of this country. The situation in this country is a total joke. Priorities????? What priorities!
Popular Post incnoi
injected paraffin gel into their genitals This is a lot more common than people would think, a plastic surgeon I worked with said that he gets at least two cases of sclerosing lipogranuloma a week of penile tissue caused by injections of paraffin or any similar straight-chain saturated hydrocarbons. The body lacks enzymes to break down or metabolize this oil, and a fibrotic reaction occurs, which can although rather grotesquely augment the penis in diameter. The fibrotic reaction eventually results in local ulceration and necrosis and needs radical surgery to excise and replace with a scrotal skin flap. Some cases even experience allergic reactions such as vasculitis, and infections leading to systemic sepsis. The results are pretty similar to body builders who use synthol which is 85% mineral oil, with some lidocaine and alcohol. With this in mind I don't know how anyone in their right mind would consider to inject paraffin into their private parts

Andre0720
Presumably, physical and emotional stability should be a requirement. I have still not found some sound reason for getting tattoos. Why would someone's body and skin not be adequate enough. So perhaps emotional stability could be in question here. Perhaps in the same fashion as women dying their hair red, or blue for that matter...
Andre0720
I mean really!!!! They are worried about implants???? What about tea money, which is a nice way of saying CORRUPTION. What about their inability to enforce the law. And their inability to follow the laws of this country. The situation in this country is a total joke. Priorities????? What priorities! Hey relax. If the type of corruption in Thailand was so bad, Thai people would not be agreeing to it in majority. This tea money is exchanged basically to keep a blind eye on small problems. Some gambling activities are allowed with some tea money, as well as for selling pirated DVD movies for example. No thai victims are complaining, only millionaires in Hollywood. Police in Thailand do not get a very good salary. And the police service do not provide radars for example, or police cruisers. Policemen have no incentive to purchase that on their own. There is no joke about it. Many farangs accept this as a fact, and live by it, ans in many instances, prefer it to the way of life in their own countries.
wans
I can see some logic to this, there is a group of people in Thailand that are career criminals who I would prefer werent police, you can distinglish these people by their tatoos and penis implants, not to mention violent and intimidating behaviour, if you spend any time in Thai jails its easy to regonise them

To be fair aren't tattoos in Japan a Yakuza trait; traditionally the only Japanese with tattoos were the Yakuza; Mafia? A good mate of mine has been working in Tokyo for a few years now and was really surprised by the overtly negative responses to his "body art". In contrast tattoos in Thailand are actually very popular and quite fashionable for some groups... they are no longer solely the realm of the bar girl. As far as preventing anyone stupid enough to inject paraffin or olive oil into their penis from becoming a policeman, well fair play, it's direct proof of complete stupidity let alone an inferiority complex!
