Chief Monk in Sattahip accused of conducting lewd acts with an 11 year old girl

SATTAHIP:--A Monk was arrested on Friday Morning accused of conducting lewd acts with a girl aged 11.

A report was made to Police on 4^th August by the parents of the girl who made accusations against the Monk, claiming he kissed the girl and touched the girl intimately. Police contacted the Monk who was asked initially to present himself to the Police Station for questioning. He failed to appear leaving Police with no option but to seek an arrest warrant in this sensitive case which saw the Monk detained on Friday under the supervision of the Chief Monk for the District who oversees a number of temples in the area.

At the Police Station the Monk vehemently denied the allegations and because he is the Chief Monk of the temple located in the Baan Amphur area, he can only be removed from the monk-hood if there is clear evidence of wrongdoing.
