westbounder
Is the aloe vera plant available here in the markets of Chiang Mai? Is it also easy to grow here in Chiang Mai, if so I will grown my own if the climate is suitable here.
cmbe
You can find it in Kam thiang market (always same place, big market for plants, fruit trees,...), you can grow it in Chiang Mai (and every provinces in Thailand), only keep out of the sun during 12:00-13:00 (not really necessary, but the sun is too strong in that time for Aloe Vera). kaptainrob
Yes, aloe vera is widely available. Kamthieng plant market, behind Tesco Lotus, have it. Also a few Hang Dong Rd shops.

WinnieTheKhwai
You can take up baking breads and stuff. Only a matter of time to get a good burn. Indeed I have Aloe growing abundantly in the garden; easiest plant ever.
BlueSmurf
Grows like a weed up here!! And it works very well on burns from the oven and the sun..
elektrified
Ditto. Just like the others said. I picked one in the jungle somewhere, brought it home, planted it, and 2 years later I have maybe 10 of them around the house. They grow like a weed. I never move them in the shade from 12:00-13:00 and they do fine.
MrBrad
So, to summarize, do aloe vera plants for the most part prefer sun or shade? Wet or dry? Well-drained soil or clay?
kaptainrob
Full sun or a little shade ok. Well drained soil. AV can survive without water for long periods.
