R123
I am not techno savvy but I have a Samsung Galaxy S 2 and it was recommended I download Google Chrome onto my phone. I have tried to do so but I keep getting a message as follows: "This App((google chrome)) is incompatiable with your AIS Samsung GT-I99100T". I have a friend who apparently has the same phone as me but has Google Chrome on his phone. But what's up? Any input or suggestions? There is an App on Play Store called 'Phone 2 Google Chrome browser' which I can download. The 2 Applications are different or what? I am getting confused-or maybe I am confusing myself- so any help is greatly appreciated.
Chicog
Chrome is a web browser. Not sure why it won't download to your phone, but is your friends phone the same model or the just the i9100. You might be able to search for "chrome.apk", download it, copy it to the phone and install it, but it won't update if your phone doesn't support it. The other app is an add-on; "Phone to Chrome" and "Chrome to Phone" allow you to send links from phone to desktop and vice versa. If you can't download it, there are plenty of other (and in my view, better) options, like Opera Mini Next and Dolphin HD.
R123
Thank u Chicog for your helpful post, especially re the better options to Chrome. As it happens i learnt from another source that the reason it would not download is that ( me being naive ) I should have downloaded various samsung updates, something I have never done until now. After 2-3 hours of updates my phone is now able to get the google chrome though I am not overly impressed with it so I may try the options u mention. Thanks again. Chicog
Yes, the updates are very useful, set them to automatic and they'll download for you (well, most of them: occasionally go to the Play Store and look at "My Apps", there may be a few manual ones). They usually add new features or fix bugs or security holes.
lomatopo
I think you may need Android 4.1 (aka Jellybean) to use Chrome? I have a hacked version of JB on my SGS2.
Chicog
No, it's designed for Android 4.x.

Chicog
Dolphin doesn't have Chrome 2 Phone or Phone 2 Chrome though. Each browser has their good and bad points. I use Opera Mini Next more than any other.
lomatopo
No, it's designed for Android 4.x. Yes, it looks like it was available as a Beta feature in ICS (4.0.x), which may be what the OP just upgraded to? "Google brought its popular Chrome Web browser to Android Ice Cream Sandwich as a beta feature earlier this year. Today, at Google Input/Output, Google quietly showed that Chrome will now be built into Jelly Bean." http://www.zdnet.com/blog/networking/android-quietly-partners-up-with-chrome/2547 For PC Chrome users, like me, I love having Chrome as the default Browser as I can share/synch my bookmarks. I tried Dolphon ages ago and thought it was a bit clunky, but it is popular.

Chicog
What I like about Opera is the speed dial. Open it and all of your favourite sites are one click away.
bino
I think you may need Android 4.1 (aka Jellybean) to use Chrome? Downloaded and works fine on my S2 - ICS 4.0.3. Hate it though- only ever looked at it twice. Haven't been bothered to uninstall it yet though. Dolphin browser is better. Abso-freakin-lutely.
