Hospital(S) With Heart Center In Isan

Featured Replies

question is is there a hospital in the isan with a heart center, my friend needs a heart check up and probably a following catheterization and angioplasty with stent .

he knows there are several hospitals in bkk but he wants to do the job if possible in the isan (udon-mukdahan-surin area)

anny suggestions and experiance would be welcome

Probably best in Isan is Srinakarin in Khon Kaen. It is associated with KKU, has the Queen Sirikit Heart Center, which happens to be a Government Hospital

Can second that my friend's wife goes there and I have been to KKU and they have told me about there expertise. It is a teaching hospital of for Thailand the highest standard probably even compared to others.

thanks for response so far.

let you know the result.

Again, Srinakarin in Khon Kaen... by all reports a good hospital... had some minor surgery there and it was very very well done... I would go back if I need to.

Please do. Threads like these are important to all us old-timers.

This is indeed a good thread because it contains the right answer.

This is indeed a bad post because it contains no content.

.... sorry - couldnt resist that, but can you give us a clue why it is the right answer for you?

South-East Isaaners. Any comments on hospital capability in the event of heart emergencies in Ubon/SiSaket provinces? May not be world or even national class but Khon Kaen is out of range unless you can stretch to a helicopter!

Sufficient content it seems to draw a facetious response! This is a good thread because it runs counter to the conventional wisdom on this forum (at least among Americans) that private hospitals are best. That is a dangerous fallacy in Isaan. It is a nice change to see two posters correctly identifying the one really excellent cardiac centre in the region. But perhaps you have your own view: what is the best cardiac centre in Isaan if it isn't Srinakarin?

Facilities in south-eastern Isaan aren't quite so cutting-edge, but international agencies and the MoPH did invest some years ago to establish a cardio-vascular centre in Ubon.

Why do you want to 'nationalize' this thread? Please feel free not to speak for me. I'm a U.S. American and one who touted Srinakarin.

This is becoming a worse thread with the type of comments you made,

...talk about not wanting to take yes for an answer! I will retire gracefully and save my praise for other posters.

I would appreciate you identifying where the cardio center is in Ubon.

Thanks

The MoPH has set out to develop a centre of excellence at Ubon Ratchathani's Sappha Sitthi Prasong Hospital, which is public tertiary care hospital with 1,500 beds. There are six cardio-vascular specialists but recently the head of the team , Dr.Chaiyatut Rukrachakarn, has had health problems. As mentioned, Srinakarin is still the leading institution in the NE, but has quite rigorous requirements for inpatient admission. Other hospitals in Isaan with a strong specialism in cardiac services (enough to meet the OP's needs) are Maharach Hospital in Korat , Khon Kaen Hospital in Khon Kaen and Udon Thani Hospital in Udon Thani.

Could you specify or give an example what "quite rigorous requirements for inpatient admission" means?

Perhaps that wasn't quite the right phrase. What I meant to indicate is that if you are a routine case from another part of Isaan it may be difficult to get a referral to Srinakarin paid for by one of the public health insurance programmes. You may instead be referred to your local facility. If you present as a private patient there is probably no problem. Should you wish to approach Srinakarin, the department you want is the Queen Sirikit Heart Centre.
