cant wait till we have visitors and he lets one off, just to see who blames who.ermm.gif

I have heard (not smelt) one of our dogs let rip once - he was a bit shocked too and turned round looking for the source of the noise as generally they don't fart.

I would be VERY interested to know what you feed your farting dog.

We generally feed BARF with the occasional portion of human-food leftovers, knowing that fart gas is vegatable matter fermenting in the intestines (or maybe bacterial infection) and that dogs have a short intestine as they are not really designed to digest vegatable (lack of amylase production levels in saliva - but a small amount in the stomach).

The other dog-fart-fact (?) I know is that in the USA there was a dog food maker that marketed their food as a reduced stool product. I speculated that to keep the dog thinking that the food consumed was enough to make him feel full the food must have been airated, so after digestion the final stool would be less than having eaten solid food. That air has to go somewhere.

Might the advertising have been more honest to say "Dog food with extra fart!"

Are you sure ? all mine turn around to sniff to be sure it has no smell, the odd times there is a smell they go and hide...

All mine eat out of a large bowl dry food, whenever they want, + what I am eating All love Veg and fruit and I do mean all fruit.

Well that sort of my point, if there is stuff in the intestine that shouldn't be there (vegetable and cereals) it might produce fart-gas.

The reaction to turn and sniff and then hide might be a learned response to receiving admonishment for farting in the past.
