Welcome Bar

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a new spot or two to have a beer on the weekend and heard mention before of the Welcome Bar a few times on Canal Road which is near where I live.

Has anyone been there and if so, what's it like and where exactly is it located?

Also interested in any other local stops around the area as well.

Thanks

HI....

haven't been there for a while, but a pleasant place to hang out, little bamboo place with a shop house restaraunt behind it (Benmore shots 32 bt).

Owner is a friendly chap known as MR Ben! It's in the row of shops on the left before the Royal Flora junction...

A little further on is Yummee Pizza hosted by Mr Toni, he has a great live music jam night on Wednesday evenings..... it's ion the grounds of the golf driving range there

A little further on is Doi Kham fish, good place to eat thai food... usually quite busy, but nice food....

all these are in the km before the Royal Flora turn.... I'll be wearing a red rose in my left lapel ;)

I believe Khrua Doi Kham (Doi Kham Kitchen) Restaurant, which is opposite Ban Nai Fan on Canal Road, may be going underwater. Original owner sold it 6 months ago, and the seafood variety and tastes took a dive. Some say it will soon be closed. Anybody know for sure?

funny you should say that, actually, none of us were impressed last time we ate there, so, scratch that on from the list :)

Ben a man from Holland I think he said runs the "Welcome" He loves to cook and puts a lot of TLC in his cooking. Not hte quickest, nor the lowest priced but nice.. Though he says he opens at 7 for breakfast, The dozen or so times I tried to eat there in the morning it was not open. His GF runs the little Bamboo bar by the street, that I think makes enough to keep the place afloat.

I know where Yummy Pizza is but still not sure where the Welcome Bar is. If you are heading south Yummy Pizza is just a short distance from the row of shops with another pizza place and is on the left side. Where is the Welcome Bar in reference to this?

Thanks

Maybe someone can post a Google streetview link? I've never been able to find this place after it was recommended to me a couple months ago.

EDIT: Never mind, found it: http://goo.gl/maps/nmL7H

  1. After Mae hia market, after tesco mini, slight bend in the road and the first row of shop house with the Bamboo hut by the road and Welcome bar sign. Before the pizza

left side heading south

Thanks for the replies. Don't know how I missed it before but will stop by and have a brew or two next later in the week.
