Anyone Have Tel No For Department Of Transport Offices

I have tried the MLT website and every phone number given does not work.

Also the link to local offices does not work.

Tried to get this information in Thai and English websites but no luck.

Have even tried the call centre No which does not work.

Anyone have telephone number please.

I have a question which no one seems to know the answer. This is:

Can I transfer ownership of my car to my wife even though car has Reistration plates for Chonburi and we live in Buriram.

Do not want to re-register to Buriram province at this present time as I lose my road tax that I recently paid and on a 4 door pick-up

this is a lot of money.

Not sure why you think you will lose your road tax as is it goes with the car. I transferred registration of a car from one province to another and the road tax remained valid.

Thanks for reply.

Read this part about road tax on an article posted on a web site. It was said that as the tax is for the car (as you stated) then the car has a new registration No then the taxis invalid for the new number. Seems plausible as the car Registration number on the tax disk will not match the registration of the car.

I know if you just sell the car the tax disk is passed on with the car unlike in UK but then we don't have different car registration numbers for different parts of the country

This is one of the points I wanted to clarify with the DLT.

I think(don't know for sure),that if you change the reg to a new province,you will get a new plates,new sticker,but the tax is transferred and new owner does not have to pay again for it...

To Tywais;

Can you remember what you had to pay for change of province registration. I was quoted 3,000B for someone outside (but in the same grounds) at the Buriram DLT office to do this for me. I thought this expensive. I didn't go ahead at the time as I did not have proof of residency with me. So couldn't do.

That was quite a few years ago so don't remember the registration transfer charges though 3000 does seem a bit steep. I guess peace of mind that it can be done by someone who knows all the requirements may be worth it.
