Pattaya City Security Officer arrested following gun incident at Pattaya Port

PATTAYA:--A Pattaya City Hall Security Officer was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday following a firearms incident at the Bali Hai Port in South Pattaya.

Just before 3am Police received reports of a man firing shots into the air. They were told the man was driving a Bronze Mitsubishi Cedia and a further man and woman were inside the car. Police managed to conduct a traffic stop on the car on Pattaya Third Road and immediately detained it’s driver, Khun Songkit aged 35, and released the two other passengers in the car without charge.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun with two bullets inside the cartridge along with two slingshots. Checks were made and it was confirmed the man is currently employed as a Pattaya City Hall Security Officer and according to his statement he claimed to be eating at a restaurant at the Bali Hai Port area when he spotted two groups of youths fighting.

He ran to his car and produced the gun and expelled three shots into the air which led to the two groups dispersing.
