Are Pump Air Pistols Legal In Los?

Featured Replies

I would like to import, or buy locally a decent single shot pump air pistol for shooting at tin cans and just target practice.....no intention of shooting anything alive. I've been to the border markets and have seen the pellets [22 and 177cal], but the vendors say that they don't have the guns, but you can buy the 'airsoft' guns that are accurate to about 6mtrs as they only use a steel spring for power.

Does anyone know the laws re: pump air pistols here in LOS??

giving this a bump....no one knows??

Being a Child of the 60's from the US, I was the proud owner of a Wonderful Benngiman Pump Air Pistol which I truly loved... Anyway, wanting to relive my youth and to introduce my GF's son to a better way of killing Rats other than the Isaan Sling Shot made from an old tree branch and innertube, I tired to have a friend bring one from the States two years ago... He carried it in his checked suitcase, in it's Orginal Box with was clearly labeled "Air Pistol"... No problem flying with it in the US, but upon entering Thailand, he was asked to open his bag even though he proceeded thru the "Nothing to Declare" line... He said that they imediately removed the box and said "Not Allowed in Thailand", and let him proceed... He was sure that they somehow knew the pistol was there and went right after it, no fine, no request for "contributions" no Hassels other than they kept the gun...

Not sure if they are truly "Not Allowed" or if the Custom's Agent just wanted it for himself, but from what he told me it was apparent that they had x-ray'd his bag and knew that it was there....

I just bought an air pistol for the wife, that doesnt have a spring, it has a gas cartridge that you refill a bit like a lighter.

Very powerful, it uses both the plastic balls, and you can by like ball bearings too ! and its automatic, great fun and looks very realistic. One charge is good for ten continuous rounds.

Mind saying the brand and where you purchased it? What do you use to refill?

I think they are legal if you get a licence for it. smile.png

Bought it locally (Phetchabun) 3.5k and they sell the aerosol type canister for refilling @ 250 baht.

The cartridge loads in the grip, holds about 20 shots.

It's quite heavy and very realistic, most wouldnt know the difference.
