BangkokBaker Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Returned my work permit yesterday and got a paper saying it was canceled effective 31jan.2006 . The guy from my office asked me for my passport as well to cancel my visa. However I noticed that they didn't t cancel my visa which is a non immigrant b re-entry visa (with multiple entries)and still valid until May 2006. I will leave Thailand tomorrow as requested when returning your work permit, but will they make my visa invalid when leaving the country? Reason I ask is that I will be back in Thailand end of March before traveling further to Australia.Since I was planning to purchase the ticket to Australia in Bangkok ,it means that I will be on a one way ticket to back Thailand which might give some problems, however if the visa is not made invalid it could be used as a kind of proof when the airlines will check. However I would enter Thailand just on a 30day stay.Which means that I'm actually not doing anything wrong.correct? All advice will be appreciated. I understand that in the first place the visa was granted on the based on my work permit but for example a guy is staying in Thailand on a non immigrant O based on marriage. Suppose they get divorced during the time of staying here. The visa is still valid for 5 months does he need to leave the country within 7 days after divorce??
lopburi3 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 It is not clear what you have. If it is a multi entry visa that allows 90 day stay on each entry that will not be canceled and will remain valid. If you are on an extension of stay and have a re entry permit valid for multi entries that is now invalid and you will not be able to return using it.

I currently hold a non immigrant b which was extended may2005 for one year. I guess it will be invalid when I leave the country but how is this done? Is the labor department informing immigration that my workpermit is canceled?
lopburi3 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 You are supposed to inform immigration I believe and they then give you a week to depart. As for the divorce/death on an O extension I believe the person also must leave within a set time. If you were requested to leave tomorrow by labor and it fits your plans I would just do as they said and then when you return just don't write in the re entry permit information and arrive on a 30 day entry. Perhaps employer is informing immigration. Have never done myself so if anyone with experience can provide exact details please do so. Perhaps immigration would just put a block on the re entry permit number?
Sunbelt Asia Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 If you originally obtained a one year multi entry visa outside Thailand. You then had obtained a 90 day stamp at the airport and did an extension of stay based on business on that 90 day stamp with multi entries. The Labor Dept cancels the extension of stay and the original one year visa is still valid( The one obtained outside Thailand). Be sure to put that visa # on your entry form when entering Thailand and you'll get another 90 day stamp in your passport. If on the other hand you only had a 90 day single entry visa and did an extension of stay. This will be canceled and you can get a 30 day tourist entry when arriving back in Thailand. www.lawyer.th.com
