International Teaching Job Options

Featured Replies

My girlfriend is an experienced elementary school teacher in the USA (9 years experience) and is looking to move to Chiang Mai with me. What are her best options for work? She has looked into some potentially lucrative options for international private teaching/tutoring and I am doing some local research to determine the best jobs in Chiang Mai/Thailand for her particular skill set. Does anyone on here know anything about the range of international teaching jobs in this part of the world?

Cheers,

SMYG

Tell her to apply to DOD on-line. If they hire her she will make good money and have all the benefits. Any country that has military bases will have DOD schools. If she teaches English over here she will get paid low wages and will be waisting her time not being plugged into Social Security, and working towards a pension. Just a suggestion. :-)

For its size Chiang Mai has a lot of international schools.

When I rocked up in town I just got my CV out there and after about a month got offered a position. If she has the funds to sit around for a while and wait for a position to come up, she will almost certainly get something.

While there is a glut of TEFL qualified teachers in town, those who are actually home country qualified are not so common.
