Pump Stolen From My Deep Well.

Featured Replies

Woke up this morning to find that the pump from my deep well had been stolen. It is a very deep deep-well around 200m with a submersible pump at the bottom. Anyway they had cut the electric cable and pulled the pump up.

Just just really a heads up to secure your deep well pumps as they are expensive bits of kit and seemingly very easy to steal.

Also if anyone hears of a Franklin Electric 1.5 HP submersible pump being sold second hand let me know!

Ouch - never heard of that before. sad.png presumably the well is on your property - and no one saw anything?

You can always go to the police and offer a reward to find it. Usually works for me.

I had something similar four months ago, but they just cut the heavy duty wire connected to pump and let the pump drop to bottom of the well to steal 60m of wire.

Yes ouch! sad.png

A submersible pump would be hardish to take out, as all the pipe would need to be pulled and cut...surely? . This must have taken some time to do, with at least two people. (having seen it done, for pump replacement wink.png )

Not uncommon to see a re-bar cage placed over pumps, although more commonly seen with above ground pumps...

Any welding shop would be able to make a cage fairly cheaply, I think.

Some times too, you see a "dog house" structure over wells..... or get the well head cap welded to the iron pipe.

Yeah they pulled all the piping up. There was around 200m of it. I think it would have taken 3 people at least 20 minutes to do it but they must have come in the middle of the night.

I offfered the police a reward so lets see what happens.

Good idea about a cage.
