Lhr Bkk Qatar Air

Featured Replies

Has anyone used Qatar Air london to bangkok, wondering whether to use them as they are a lot cheaper than Eva which I normaly use, but they are over £ 200 more than Quatar which is supposed to be the airline of the year?

Any comments appreciated

try reading the link below and click on latest reviews, then the airlines.

might help you decide.

I've flown with them several times from Doha to BKK and found them a great airline. V good service, cheap fares and the planes are fairly new. Doha airport is OK but I wouldn't want to spend more than a few hrs there - you can pay about 20-30 US to use the lounge which is a good deal IMO.

I've flown Etihad and Emirates and I think Oman also fly these routes and, to me, the break in the middle of the flight is a good idea, rather than 10-11 hrs straight.

Overall I've found the overall flight experience better with these new Middle Eastern airlines that their European competitiors and don't think I'll go back to KLM, BA etc.

Singapore and Thai are very nice but more expensive.

I've flown Qatar and they are a really good airline and I'd recommend them.

I don't mind the break, but I'm bored of flying so much prefer a direct flight, sleeping most of the way.

BTW OP - I think you'll get a much, much better response if you move this to the Travel Forum in the General section.

Lot of people know their airlines there.

Used them last year with family. All ok, modern planes and on time. On way back had 4 hr stopover, food crap but chips edible. If you look you can find some quiet seats, they take your boarding card and you can sleep itv relax and if you need they will alert you to make a move.

Worth the saving if £200. For an extra 50/60 I'd fly direct.

Flew Thai recently after being an Eva fan and they converted me.

I've flown twice with Qatar from JFK to Nepal - great service, so-so food, decent inflight entertainment. I wish I knew about the quiet room the last time I had a 6 hour stopover in Doha. Am flying with China Eastern Air to BKK in January and am not looking forward to the flight, would rather fly with any of the Middle Eastern airlines(have flown with Etihad and Gulf Air) but the fares were much more than China Eastern.

Flown with them about a dozen times, they are good but I think its pushing it a bit to say they are a 5 star airline, as the cabin crew are generally inexperienced. Doha airport cannot handle large volumes of traffic, which can make even a short stopover difficult. Anyway, if the flight's 200 quid cheaper, I'd take it.
