PATTAYA: -- Financial concerns and excessive alcohol are two factors thought to be behind a bag snatch in South Pattaya early on Tuesday Morning, involving two Russian Tourists, one of which was slightly injured.

Police were called to the Pratamnuk Road in South Pattaya where members of the public had assisted in detaining the suspected thief, Khun Jongrak aged 34 who seemed heavily intoxicated.

He had fallen from his motorbike seconds after the bag snatch and is alleged to have stolen a handbag belonging to Mrs. Svetlana Krylova aged 27 who fell during the bag snatch and sustained a minor injury to her right knee.

Her husband, Mr. Anton Krylova aged 25 was powerless to prevent the snatch which happened in a split-second, as the suspect approached on his motorbike from behind and drove up next to Mrs. Krylova and took the bag.

Sure, thats what most of us do, when our business starts to fail, we go out and snatch bags!. Probably not the first time he snatched a bag, and surly wont be the last.

Yes.. move on, nothing to see here.. just your typical Thai on tourist violent robbery. Lets please hurry and move on to the next topic. Some real news like a thai trying to cut his own penis off or something. Why do you tourists insist on reading news that pertains to you. If you don't like it here... go home. Let some other poor sod have a chance at being the victim for a change.

Why a photo of the victims and not the culprit?

If you click on the pretty blue colored print next to "Fully Story," you can see the culprit.

As Payboy said in reference to some reporter's clever deduction.

I doubt very many tourists post comments on TV since, unlike those of us who are long-term residents, they don't spend all their time glued to a computer making insightful (more usually inciteful) comments from the safe anonymity of our cleverly chosen nom-de-plumes.

When will these tourist learn to stay within the designated safety zones that the local government has so kindly setup for all to enjoy a safe time out in Pattaya.

"Stay within the designated safety zones" Rather delusional, Pattaya is notorious for crimes of all natures and they can occur almost anywhere. I have known this city since it was a sleepy fishing village and the type of tourisim it has attracted is a precursor for the crime rate. What irritates most visitors who fall prey to criminal acts is the malfeasance of the authorities.

In this specific case the perepretrator fell off his motor bike and was detained until the police arrived, hence the villian was caught. Exception and far from the rule.

Not a good night for the Robber, not only did he fall off his m/bike and get arrested, but it would seem from the "link" pic, showing him sitting in the pick up, he's "peed" his pants

pity he didnt injure himself severely when he fell off the bike ....oooohhhh i can hear the wringing of the hands ....lets not forget shall we that not too long ago a british woman died of massive head injuries in front of her husband as the result of a bag snatch remember ........days later on beach rd about twenty of us chased a bag snatcher that dragged a young female tourist about 20 metres ...fortunately only severely scraped legs but obviously her holiday ruined ....yes but maybe the robber was having financial difficulties so that makes it all ok ....

How sloshed was the culprit?

Looking at the picture of him, it looks like he has peed his jeans.
