The first political song that sunk into my consciousness......before this Martin Luther King was a text book study at school.

After getting to grips with the lyrics I studied him again and understood this time. Before you start, I was only 14 in 1980. coffee1.gif

One song can't change the world but it can bring attention to major issues......was there ever a better way to keep Mandela at the top of the YOUTH consciousness than this song?

To many teenagers just another figure of history, but this song brought him to life for many of us.

If you told kids today how worried we were about nuclear war in the early 80's they would think you wre mad, but from Germany here comes Nena, with another political classic......

These guys were super political, active fund raisers for the IRA, when that news got out they wre finished but not before scarring our consciousness with this wailing ear worm......

On constant play on my local jukebox. Gawd look at the fashion!!

Another political song and a Scottish classic.......bewailing the loss of our industry ( Linwood no more, Bathgate no more, that's where our car trade was before we lost it )......it's been the wont of Scots forever more to travel to make their fortune

Sings that mean something will be with you forever.............sometimes they are just there are the right time. I was driving into The William Smellie Maternity Unit in Lanark, Scotland, to witness the birth of my first daughter. It was a beautiful day, 6 July 1986, and the last song that came on the radio as I drove in was this one hit wonder.......

once again, look at the fashion!!! My gawd......but " Too Good To Be Forgotten , One In A Million People "

That's the lyrics to have in your mind when your wee lassie is being born.
