Ed Student Visa Expiry - Reentry With Tourist Visa?

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

I am an exchange student here in Thailand and my student visa (90 days ED visa) is going to expire on 5th of November.

However I want to stay in Thailand until early January and don't want to get all those procedures with extending the visa + getting a multiple entry permit.

Since I will be traveling quite a lot I am thinking of entering Thailand all the time with a tourist visa (that gives me 30 days every time since I am from Austria)

Since I will be in Kuala Lumpur and return to Thailand on the 6th of November this would be no problem so far.

Does anybody have experience with this? Or do you think I might get in troubles when I reenter as a tourist just 1 day after my Visa expired?

Thanks for your answers.

it seems you want to use a visa exempt entry, not a tourist visa (which is for 60 days).

There is no problem doing that, but you must keep in mind that with a visa exempt entry you will only get 30 day if you enter Thailand by air. At land borders you will only get 15 days!

And the airline might not let your board without an exit ticket so you might want to have that to show each time.
