Potential Overstay On Visa Not Required

Featured Replies

Have a friend who regularly visits on a VNR basis.

On this visit he took in a trip to Cambodia and received the standard 15 day land crossing stamp.

He SHOULD be OK but if his company mess him about he may finish up with 2 days overstay.

He does not want to riska 'black mark' so is looking at his pro-active options.

I think it is case of a visit to local immigration office and obtaining an 'extension' for 1,900 Baht versus a run to the Cambodian border for an 'in and out' for circa 900 Baht.

Does anyone have personal experience of these options ?

"Visa not required" is incorrect it is called a visa exempt entry.

An extension of 7 days can be applied for at immigration for 1900 baht showing a ticket out of the country within those 7 days. What normally is done is that they deny the extension and give the applicant 7 days to leave.

I suggest that he not mention that he is working illegally when he applies.
