No matter how many visa applications I do, it just doesnt get any easier for me. I find the whole thing so confusing and an absolute nightmare - feel like throwing the computer out the window.

I thought UK appication was bad but now I am applying for a schengen for my wife for a trip to Italy and this takes confusing to a whole new level!

Am I missing something or what? On this page:

http://www.vfsglobal.com/italy/thailand/allaboutvisa.html

It says:

Where to apply for a visa

Italy Visa Application Centre

Mercury Tower Building,

09th Floor

Phloenchit Road,

Near BTS Chitlom, Bangkok

It gives a link to a form called ModulovistoSchenghen1

However,

There is a link on the same page which says "Do You Need a Visa?"

When she clicks this and goes to this page and enters her info.

http://www.esteri.it/visti/home_eng.asp

It tells her to apply to:

Where to apply for a Visa

THAILAND

Bangkok - Embassy of Italy

Address: 27 Floor, CRC Tower, All Seasons Place 87 Wireless Road, Lumpini, Phatumwan Bangkok 10330

Tel.: 006622504970

Fax: 006622504986

Website: www.ambbangkok.esteri.it

E-mail: [email protected]

It also says to use a completely differnet form called Formulario_Visito_Shenghen.

If this wasn't bad enough, when you try to find out what the fees are it says this!

4. The visa fee may be waived for: (a) children from the age of six years and below the age of 12 years; (B) holder of diplomatic and service passports (with permission of the Embassy); © participants aged 25 years or less in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events, organized by non-profit organizations; (d) Spouse and child of citizen of EU or EEA.

So they fees MAY BE WAIVED???? What the <deleted> does that mean? Do we need to pay them or what??????? Of course the helpline just rings and rings and no one answers. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone recently applied for one of these???

Its doing my head right in.

The fees may be waived if she can prove she is married to an EU national, however if the Italian Embassy use VFS (A service centre) then you have to pay an administration fee.

Normally the documents required for spouse of EU National are:

Application form and photos

Passports (current and expired)

Marriage Certificate

Your passport

Travel Insurance

I have also been asked to prove an address in the Schengen country I am going to, my wife's bank books and also a reason for going to that country, so you might want to prepare these.

Also just seen the website she would have to go to VFS in Phloenchit.

If an interview is required then she would also have to go to the Embassy but should not really be needed.
