Daytime Vip Buses Or Trains From Bangkok To Udon Thani

Featured Replies

Are there any VIP buses or trains that leave Bangkok in the mornings to Udon Thani? All I seem to get is after 6 P.M.Thanks

there was alot of VIP buses when i arrived on the 19/10/12 to swampy..but then again i took a cab. to DMK.but i saw alot of VIP buses loading passengers to UD,PATTAYA

Morchit bus station has buses leaving all the time for Udon. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If it's a holiday, expect the place to be packed. Many options are available, which do change on a fairly regular basis. Just show up and you'll find a suitable option!

There are both day trains and night trains to Udon Thani daily.

Plus, lots of buses. As stated, go to Mo Chit bus terminal. My GF takes the 7am VIP bus.

you clearly have not searched enough, or the wrong way.

There is but 1 feasible daytime train-the AC-2nd cl sprinter, from BKK at 8.xx or so-expect delays. Will nearly always have seats empty before dept.

from Mochit- NOT 24 hrs anymore, but daytime at least 1/hour, but class will differ. Ask Taxidriver for CHANtour-has its own office opposite the main big mayhem and has buses nearly as good as NCA. The TV-farang hates to get up that early-so there are also by 10/11 etc. 7-8 hrs drive-there are NO buses to arrive after 23.00-then wait for overnighters

Any other choice but Chantour double decker bus is a stupid choice...

This is misleading as no destination from Mo Chit Bus Terminal, even the high demand ones, have services departing 24 hours a day! To the inexperienced you are giving an incorrect impression that they can just turn up at any time and a bus will be departing soon after, "Just show up and you'll find a suitable option!"

The reality will be starkly different as there is with all companies & the Transport Co. usually a 4-6/7 hr break during the night between the last service and the first morning service. AND, there is a big difference between getting a very slow 2nd class bus and a 1st class or VIP bus.

It pays to do a little bit of research which is what the OP is doing. It helps to get accurate, informed information which directly respond to the query in any reply.

One option is NakhonChai Air (NCA) buses who have regular services to Khon Khen (with a 6:30am dep), http://www.nca.co.th/index_en.php. (note that their terminal is 600m away from Mo Chit Bus Terminal). Not sure if they also go to Udon but give them a call and check.

I wouldn't take the train, even though it will be a nicer trip, as the journey time is longer (by upwards of 3-4hrs) and usually subject to being delayed. However, the #75 Express departs at 8:20am fro arrival at 6:20pm. http://www.railway.co.th/home/srt/timetable/northeastlinetxt.asp?lenguage=Eng

You could also ask this same query on the Isan sub forum as most likely there will be more informed responses from people who do this trip on a regular basis.
