October 29, 201213 yr I beieve Khun Abhisit was the straightest and most well educated prime minister this country had seen for some time, and a great shame he did not have the neccessary support of the police and army. or the people judging from the election results.
October 29, 201213 yr He should never have gone to stay in the army barracks. Politically crazy. Maybe he was more worried about his life than his politics. How stupid would anyone have to be to reckon that the army wouldn't push him down stairs if it was deemed necessary to "protect the country" i.e. their agenda

Actually the CRES was running the country at that moment. Going too an army barracks was extremely weak in my opinion and gave no ambiguity about who was running the country. The army pulled the leash, and abhisit came to heel.
October 30, 201213 yr It was all a nice cosy arrangement at the time however to the detriment of the country's coffers which saw military spending soar to unprecedented levels meanwhile, in the real world, military spending reveals.... Thailand's military expenditures are below the average for ASEAN 2010 ASEAN countries military expenditure as a percent of GDP ?.? (unreported) Myanmar 4.1 Singapore 3.9 Brunei 2.4 Vietnam 2.0 Malaysia 1.5 Thailand 1.1 Cambodia 1.0 Indonesia 0.8 Philippines 0.4 Laos ASEAN average (not counting unreported Myanmar) = 1.9 On a world scale of military expenditure as a percent of GDP, Thailand ranks # 89. Actually when putting in the updated figures for 2011, Thailand has dropped several places in comparison to their neighbors and is now even further below the average expenditures than they were before: 2011 ASEAN countries military expenditure as a percent of GDP 4.9 Singapore 4.5 Brunei 3.0 Cambodia 3.0 Indonesia 2.5 Vietnam 2.1 Burma 2.0 Malaysia 1.8 Thailand 0.9 Philippines 0.5 Laos ASEAN average = 2.5 On a world scale of military expenditure as a percent of GDP, Thailand ranks # 85. http://en.wikipedia....ry_expenditures Edited October 30, 201213 yr by Buchholz

October 30, 201213 yr I for one, will look forward to reading this. Glad to see he has published as not many people really want to listen to rhetoric anymore. Good move. Now we will wait for the Reds and PTP cronies to cry foul and start dumping sh*t on it. I too would like to read Mr Abhisit's Memoir in its entirety. My personal response to the extracts in this article are that it made me feel sad. I wouldn't dream of attacking Mr Abhisit's memoir. In deed I commend him for writing it. However, it is really sad that the 'Pay Master' chose' Mr Abhisit to lead this great nation. The consequences of that choice have stained this honorable mans career indelibly Whilst introducing instability in the homeland. Now the people's government have to find a way to reconcile differences and put Thailand back on track to the future that she roundly deserves. Edited October 30, 201213 yr by indyuk
