krobert6
Every week or so in my village there are announcements for community meetings, requests for assistance with the local Temple, requests for workers to help with locally owned resources. If you do not attend and are not registered as one of the 26 homes there a fine is imposed (100-150 baht) I think this is a magnificent way of gelling the community. Is it the same in your village? Totster
There was a rota once in our village where people had to patrol the village overnight. It was mandatory to attend unless you paid bt100 totster
Pormax
Not to my knowledge but I think it is a great idea, Perhaps if it happens here they can have one morning every weekend that the children go around the village to pick up the rubbish they throw around. Then just maybe they will learn not to do so. I do know that maybe once or twice a year the men, not working away, get together to cut trees, bushes and grass along the road sides. I think maybe this is organised by the head man of the village, no fine for not attending. But as I said heard of nothing else.

Works really well - not many do not turn up and the regular communication cements the relationships
AjarnP
I think its important to become part of ghe community. In our village there's a regular clean up along the road edges and so on. We rarely physically take part due to our own commitments but we always donate a few liters of fuel for their weedwhackers. Everyone is all smiles. I enjoy getting involved and cementing relationships with the locals - they are a great crowd, at first they used to have a dig at me being a falang working but now it is just accepted Edited November 4, 2012 by krobert6
