New To Thailand And Visa Running Out

Featured Replies

Here is my situation: I am here for almost 2 months for a Thai Massage school, but I was only able to get a 30 day plain tourist visa as I walked off the plane (timing problems). My visa runs out on the 9th of November, but I have have class on Friday and I have to go on Saturday November 10. What will be the penalty to wait an extra day and will I be able to do this one more time (border visa run) to extend my visa till I leave back to the states?

Thank you.

The penalty for overstay is 500 baht / day, if you are leaving for your run via Suvarnabhumi Airport the fine will be waived if it's only one day.

If you intend to just get a new visa exempt stamp like the one you have now, you will get 30 days by air and 15 days at land border.

You can go several times more if you like, only after 4-5 stamps in a row they might start asking if you are working illegally.

Just find a day to do a border run sometime before your classes and then immediately re-enter Thailand thus getting yourself a new stay. Keep doing this a couple of times if necessary as PoorSucker has suggested.

So obviously your Thai Massage school is not recognized or you would be getting a Non Immigrant Ed Visa.

Go out over the border or through the airport, land border 15 days, airport 30 days, keep on doing this until you are finished with the massage school.
