thenervoussurgeon
I just post this for interest as i read a few times that they were not interested in foreigners .i am registered with hospitals in pattaya and Bangkok ,but as we know they are expensive . To cut a long story short my wife and i turned up at the hospital (impressed) and asked if i could register ,yes no problem smiles all round and english spoken ,they took my driving licence and from the information made me a laminated card and entered all my information ,a few minutes later i got my card and was told i would be called to pay (judging by the sign ,in english i thought 200 baht ,a few minutes later i was called to another window handed over my two hundred ,wheupon the girl laughed gave me back 180 baht and said falang 20 baht thai 10 baht,i was then told i could look around , I must say i was immpressed ,anyone used the hospital? JSixpack
Never heard anything to imply that this hospital doesn't welcome foreigners. Many on the forum have used it and most reports about it are favorable. It IS a Thai public hospital, however, with all that implies.

Even Pattaya Memorial which used to be reasonable is starting to jack up their prices.

You're right about the Memorial remark.Last time I was there I noticed a desk next to the reception, occupied by two foreign males.I think they might be Russian, and that may explain the price rise as they are focusing on the Russian tourists. Agree, I have been using Pattaya Memorial few times over the last 5 years, but never seen so many Russian translators as this year (both in May and October). And with them goes the price... specially for the "packages" that used to be 50% of BHP and now are at 80$ of their price.

They are indeed not expensive but I think it is a little exaggerated, after all they are a government hospital in the line as Banglamung hospital is.This means same long queue's to see the doctor, same accomodations, some restrictions and same young doctors who are working there because they need to pay back their government scholarship. Then if you take in calculation that you have to drive or take a taxi to Utapoa, wait half a day untill it's your turn or be there a 7 am,then I guess all the savings have disappeared. JohnC
Used this hospital many times , latest last week, arrived 7.45 blood pressure checked, saw the surgeon at 9.30, went to pay bill, surgeon 200 baht , nursing csts 100 baht, prescription for a powerfull antibiotic 679 baht, total cost 979 baht finished and out by 10.30 Yes I had to drive 38 kilometres but given it was a nice day and I was in no hurry the reduced csts were worth it. Last year I was in for three days, had an inguinal hernia repaired, total cost 17500 baht .Qutoes from three local private hospitals started at 150,000 baht. Go figure where I will go when I need to see a specialist.
Fgis
This hospital is good and the ones who cannot queue are too rich or too stupid. I would never feed the pigs owners of private hospitals in Thailand.

My point was merely hat there is a similar hospital with similar prices and services, though not so big, in Naklua - Banglamung

Still a great deal, as the hernia example by JohnC above illustrates. In the case of a public hospital supported by the taxpayers as is Sirikit, the extra charge makes some sense. Langsuan Man
Pattaya Memorial has made a concentrated effort to attract the Russian trade and have raised their prices to reflect that. Saw an ENT there and for a follow up visit coincidentally saw him at Pattaya International Hospital, 200 Baht cheaper at PIH, for the same doctor
