The 20th floor Grill Room at the Porn Ping is closed for renovations. Are there any other good choices for a special occasion? Decent food would certainly be a plus.

Centara Duangtawan on Loi Kroh has a nice Chinese restaurant on the 20 something floor. Rooftop restaurant at Furama Hotel on superhighway before you get toward Rincome intersection.

If you don't mind going out of town a bit (via Suthep Rd), Palaad Tawanron overlooks things somewhat. Food's pretty good but need to book a table, esp' for going near the edge. Just put your head down when the roving players head in your direction. tongue.png

Try Xanadu at the Furama on the Superhighway near the Chiang Mai Grand View. You need to book to get the tables with the best view.

Well it is not actually on the superhighway. It is attached to the back side of hillside 4 you can just walk all the way through Hillside 4 to get into it. It has a 360 degree view of the city and the Mountain. Can't say as to the quality of their food as have never tried it I believe it is a barbeque type restaurant.

If in a vehicle and you are heading South go past the Grand view hotel and take the last left before you get to Huew Khow. (the road that goes from the moat to the zoo.)

The food at Xanadu is really good imo, lots of good quality Thai dishses. Also, I'm not sure if the French restaurant is still open on the Furama rooftop anymore, but they did some tasty steaks

They are the only restaurants that can genuinely claim to have "high" quality food...even if its crap

Once tried the rooftop restaurant at the Mayflower Hotel near Monkey Club.

Should have added the view was great, the drinks were very expensive, and we didn't try the food. There were very few customers. Since then it appears the Hotel has been remodeled extensively, rooftop restaurant may or may not still be there,
