What have they done....

Like an IKEA concept.

Now they moved everything around...

Fruit? No tourist bags, snacks? No tourist thirts.

Wine, beer. Somewhere in in middle

It's a mess, be prepared for half hour extra to shop

Now it's extra time to find anything

  • Think of it as an opportunity. You may discover stuff you never knew existed. For example I never knew about thirts.   They even have helpful staff on hand to guide you.

  • I thought that was a "chirt"...🤔

  • The more they move the products so you have to search, the more products you'll ponder as you wander. Just a marketing strategy.

This is exceptional, there are old men wandering lost because they cannot find things. They are using special helpers to direct such lost customers to the soap powder. I got an impression they were going to have a large alcohol area, presuming there would soon be 24/7 sales allowed. My usual routine of going directly for what is on my list is all awry. I don't shop like a woman, feeling the obligation to see everything and peruse every single aisle. I looked for a particular cat food for 10 minutes, cat food now being mixed in with dog food...  then finding what I wanted on a completely different aisle!

The place is beginning to look like a USA Wallmart.

My world is collapsing, as is the roof in that Mall.

I agree no point shopping there if you can't buy any meat. And their bread isn't much good either. GO is worth trying next to Big C South.

Hide it. Shrink it. Charge more.
Shop small, shop smart.

My 80 year old friend from home got caught short whilst looking for a new mop in that Big C. He shat in a blue plastic bucket right there in the aisle, used his underwear to wipe himself and hobbled away on his walker without looking back.  The guy had no shame.  I can't think of that Big C or blue plastic mop buckets without envisioning the look on the face of the person who had to deal with that bucket.

All those supermarkets do the same thing, after a long time of you knowing how to find everything again, they throw the whole thing over again.
It seems they hate their customers.
And if the intention is to make me buy more because I see items I had not noticed before, they are wrong, I would rather go to another shop.

By the way, I haven't been to Ikea for a long time since they doubled the prices.

I didn't notice that, what year did it change?

Makro did the same thing a few months ago, I'd just go straight to staff and ask where something was, I'm not wasting time searching makro

They first did that when they were based here for 3 years, then everything went up by about 20%.

I could compare it with prices in Holland and found that it was over 20% cheaper than in Holland because of VAT (in Holland 21%)
But it was 2 years ago that I was looking for a latex mattress which they offered for 20k.
At that time, I couldn't make a decision until six months ago, when the exact same mattress was 40k.

Yes, stores do this as a matter of course. As you're wandering around looking for the coffee you'll see something and go " Actually I need some of that." There's lots of tricks they have to get you to buy.

Unfortunately, I'm more likely to see something that I really, really don't need, see it's reduced AND buy 25 get one free and end up with an entire trolley load.

Usually Tampax and shampoo and I'm a bloke and bald.

They changed Makro months ago I still struggle to find my way around. They do it so that you see extra things you fancy while you're looking for your usual items. They don't want you walking quickly to your usual shelves.

supermarkets use a lot of tricks

least expensive items on the lower shelves or harder to find

Not only inside Big C stalls on the ground and first floor have gone as Cafe Amazon has, now a ‘portakabin’ outside on Klang albeit the place is full of those ‘illegal’ gaming machines with the soft toys you never mange to grab.

When they wave their hand and say, "Over there", I just say, "Thanks. SHOW ME"

Big C is getting completely renovated, which was about time since it looked like a slum, but it's taking nice shape already.

It will be a big improvement once finished
