Where do they find these loons?

That's great thinking. By allowing homosexuals to be equal, all French men will drop their wives and marry men. Which of course means that they are all gay to begin with - and this must therefore include the good senator.

Think about it: He is speaking for himself. I doubt that the majority of the Grande Nation can even follow this thought.
