How To Get Thai Visa On Trip From Cambodia To Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi guys

The situation is a little complicated.

I made a trip plan from Cambodia to Thailand by land in the next year

But my country (Taiwan) isn't on the list of Thailand visa exemption.

That is, Taiwanese have to apply for visa or VOA to enter Thailand.

I know most people around needs no visa-applying-in-advance to get to Thailand.

So such topic as mine is too few to find.

My wife holds Taiwan passport but currently can't apply for Thai visa in Taiwan,

(The procedure needs Taiwan ID card but my wife has no one)

However, according to internet info,

VOA seemed to be impossible to get in the Aranyaprathet/Poipet Border Post,

but not for sure.

Because someone claimed that you can get a 15-day VOA in Aran/Poipet post,

while the others said it CANNOT be.

It so far remains a mystery.

My plan now is to apply for Thai visa in Thailand Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

But it seems to takes 3 days to do.

I am not staying that long in Phnom Penh. (mainly stay in Angkor Wat)

Is there any other way, if anyone knows,

to apply for Thai visa in an easier way?

Or I and my wife can get any type of Thai visa from Aranyaprathet/Poipet Border Post?

Thanks a lot.

Believe normal wait in Phnom Penh is 4 days for visa issue and no VOA is available at any crossing into Thailand so it would require a flight into Thailand to obtain a VOA.

thanks a lot for your response

information on internet is all paradox

perhaps i should go to Taipei for Thailand's visa office to give it a try

when i go to HCM vietnam i'll give it another try to the embassy over there.

my period of stay in PP is 1 day and in SR is 3 days

the worst situation (perhaps not the worst) is that i hand out the application form in PP and go to SR,

and return to PP after 3 days to get the visa from the embassy in PP...

what a crap to be out of visa exemption

Using the Cambodian guard at the entrance to the Thai Embassy, the turnaround is two days (hand your passports/pics and the negotiated price to him in PM day one, and pickup PM day three). I even think one day is possible for an extra few $$. Remember to bring US dollars or get some before you go for the visa. His usual price was $40 (visa) + $20 (to him), earlier this year. He does all the paperwork, hands you back the visa in your passport.

The issue is this can not be depended upon; as what is accepted one week may not be the next. There have been frequent changes in policy at that Embassy.
