Termite /pest Control Costs.

Featured Replies

We had a termite problem in our extension which is only 10x5 meters. Had contractor come and do the necessary and he offered a 1 year contract for 4500baht, 3 visits I believe which we thought was OK.

Contract refers to "personal house" . It also includes free call out and treatment if any problems in between regular service.

We had to call them to come for the first of the treatments,3 weeks overdue!

Subsequently found termites in the main house last week, two storeys attached to the extension by a short walkway.

Well guess what, contractor says the main house is not included in the "personal house" cover which seems to be a bit of a scam to me.

Anyway, how does it sound to you and what do you pay?

I recommended them I think? shock1.gif

For 2 years I've had a contract with Chiang Mai Pest Control (053-278-743, 053-814-817, 081-884-4364). 12 treatments per year (either monthly or as you need them) for 4,000 baht. This price has been in effect for 2 years; your price may vary, but it shouldn't be too much more, if any, I'd guess.

They spray inside the house, as well as around the yard, including small trees and bushes. For serious large trees taller than your house, they do have equipment for that also. And, they can fumigate underground as well as inside enclosed rooms and closet areas in the house.

I'm pleased with their service, and I recommend them.

Had a large mob treat us for termites. Every ant within a large radius dead, termites still happily munching away. But maybe all those toxic cancerous chemicals were good for us?

Our landlord allways sprayed for termites when the house was empty.

I failed to realise as part of the standard Thai rental agreement/law it was up to the tennant to proect the property and return it in the same condition it was originally in before rental.

Just worth being aware of on longer rental agreements.

Ouch! The price strikes me as high.

I get full treatment twice a year (house and garden) for 1500 per visit. I have a relatively new house so termites have never taken hold. At least there is no sign of them. No sign of cockroaches, either! Or ants except those pesky absolutely tiny ants that can smell sugar from a kilometer away. Anyway, a visit does clean them out. In between visits, I use the ant poison that comes in the little green tray you set out. Works every time, at least until the little bastards regroup!

I paid 4000 for 1 year, 4 visit contract for large 2-story house and yard. They drilled holes through the 1st floor floors in corners, then deep sprayed in them and sealed the holes back up. Outside the house and up and downstairs fully sprayed. Never saw another termite come back since. That was a few years ago though.

I would like to know what poisons they are using. And do any pest companies use baits? In Oz my preferred pest controller used baits to tease them into small containers, then applied minuscule amounts of arsenic to the bait. The termites happily munched these up, and when they died, others in the nest ate their bodies, and subsequently died, until finally the queen was also dead. Seemed far less toxic than spraying.
