February 11, 200620 yr I have recently bought a 2nd hand computer for the GF but the previous owner was a company where the computer was located in a factory setting and was used by all. I have tried to delete history of previous owner (a lot of porn sites) but all the previous google serches still appear when my GF types in the first letter of her search in the google search engine. Anyone know how I remove this as it is rather annoying and not very nice for her???? Thanks...slippery

February 11, 200620 yr You dont say what your operating system is , however go to start/programmes/accessories/system tools/disk cleanup and run that. You could also go onto the properties of your internet explorer and delete all cookies and offline content. Personnaly i would also download some free adaware and clean up hard disk, also something like spybot or spydoctor.

February 11, 200620 yr If its the google search box helper added to the browser, right click on google and clear search history.
February 12, 200620 yr maestro is correct you can clear them all with a couple of clicks but if you want to look at them first they all live together in , C:\documents and settings\local settings\temporary internet files. Go have a look. it’ll frighten the life out of you. Best to shred them all. Then put firefox on for her and loose the IE icon. That'll do it. February 12, 200620 yr FormatRainman and Petch01 are right: the best thing to do when you buy a second-hand computer is to completely erase the hard disk (format it) and then install your own stuff from scratch.--------------- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
February 13, 200620 yr ...all the previous google serches still appear when my GF types in the first letter of her search in the google search engine.... This is the "Autocomplete" part of Maestro's first response. Deleting cookies and other files won't fix this. Moving to Firefox is a nice solution since it's a nicer program. But you'll still need IE for those websites that don't work well on Firefox, which include a lot of Asia based websites. Forgot, in Firefox, the equivalent is Tools/Options/Privacy and hit the "Clear" on "Saved Form Information" or even better "Clear All" at the bottom.
