Recently Bought 2nd Hand Computer For Gf

Featured Replies

I have recently bought a 2nd hand computer for the GF but the previous owner was a company where the computer was located in a factory setting and was used by all.

I have tried to delete history of previous owner (a lot of porn sites) but all the previous google serches still appear when my GF types in the first letter of her search in the google search engine.

Anyone know how I remove this as it is rather annoying and not very nice for her????

Thanks...slippery

You don’t say what browser is used. In Firefox, it is

Tools

Options…

Privacy

Download History

Clear Download History Now

P.S. Sorry, that information probably does not address you question. You want to know how to clear google search history.

P.P.S. I’ve found it now. For a change of scenery, let us this time assume that your browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 6. Here, you do the following:

Tools

Internet Options…

Content

Autocomplete

Clear Forms

OK

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

In google search for

'A' whatever comes up, highlight and delete

'B', 'C' a.s.o.

You dont say what your operating system is , however go to start/programmes/accessories/system tools/disk cleanup and run that.

You could also go onto the properties of your internet explorer and delete all cookies and offline content. Personnaly i would also download some free adaware and clean up hard disk, also something like spybot or spydoctor.

I'm usung internet explorer.

I have already deleted cookies and internet files.

Unfortunately the problem still exists.......

My prescription is guaranteed to work, but it may be a little different in other IE versions.

Go to www.wincleaner.com and download the free version of UltraWinCleanerOne Click.

Install and then run it

If its the google search box helper added to the browser, right click on google and clear search history.

maestro is correct you can clear them all with a couple of clicks but if you want to look at them first they all live together in , C:\documents and settings\local settings\temporary internet files. Go have a look. it’ll frighten the life out of you. Best to shred them all.

Then put firefox on for her and loose the IE icon. That'll do it.

Cyber Scrub will shred files and wipe empty space and slack. There are free downloads around.

The best way is:

Click: My Computer

C:

Right-Click ones

Format

And install all programs your partner and you need.

Petch01

Format
Rainman and Petch01 are right: the best thing to do when you buy a second-hand computer is to completely erase the hard disk (format it) and then install your own stuff from scratch.

This is the "Autocomplete" part of Maestro's first response. Deleting cookies and other files won't fix this.

Moving to Firefox is a nice solution since it's a nicer program. But you'll still need IE for those websites that don't work well on Firefox, which include a lot of Asia based websites.

Forgot, in Firefox, the equivalent is Tools/Options/Privacy and hit the "Clear" on "Saved Form Information" or even better "Clear All" at the bottom.
