Sanan in hospital after breathing problems

BANGKOK: -- Chart Thai Pattana Party chief adviser Sanan Kachornprasart ended up in hospital yesterday after suffering a severe emphysema attack.

He was initially rushed to Nonthavej Hospital before being referred to Siriraj Hospital's Respiratory Care Unit, Prof Dr Udom Kachinthorn, dean of the Siriraj Medical School, said. He added that the patient was not allowed any visitors, though Sanan's son, Deputy Agriculture Minister Siriwat Kachornprasart, was allowed to see his dad.

Sanan's personal secretary, Thanonsorn Lertritsirikul, said the politician had been suffering from emphysema for a while now and had to be taken to hospital because he had trouble breathing after a coughing fit.

Thanonsorn said doctors expect Sanan to be discharged in a few days.

Deputy Interior Minister Pracha says Boonlert fails to control demonstrators

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Interior Minister Pracha Prasopdee attacked Pitak Siam leader Gen Boonlert Kaewprasit of lacking control over the protesters, allowing them to provoke police's use of force.

He said the clash the two intersections showed that Boonlert had no measures to control the crowd to be in order.

Pracha said the people might be used as tools to create violence.

He said demonstrators who want to go home can have a free ride at the Sanam Luang from 2 pm to 3 pm.
