A friend of my wife is leaving her Thai husband and heading home to Japan. She's broke and I agreed to pay for her ticket home. I did a quick search and it looks like the cheapest flight from Bangkok to Tokyo is Air Asia for about 10K Baht.

Is this the best deal, or does anyone know of a better one? She won't be going until after the New Year and her travel dates are flexible.

Last time, i flew with Delta Air. (cheapest at the time)

even economy, is quite good.

Apple devices, have an app called "skyscanner", that can at least give a point in the right direction (even if not getting the ticket from the app).

With flexible travel dates you won't find a cheaper fare that Air Asia.

Currently there's a flight for 6600 baht on Jan 22.

Baggage is extra. Great if she has none or has a lot, Air Asia may still be better as they allow you to pre-book 50kgs. You'll probably pay excess baggage for that much on any other airline.

AA is cheap, but as others mentioned too many hidden fees so you'll need to get into the AA site and go through the

motion and mock a ticket pricing for a desired departure day. (be sure to add the extra bag's, meal, etc.)

also, I always get online discount ad's from ANA (all nippon airways), you may want to check them out for a pricing quote.

IF this flight is a one way ticket, it may cost a lot more.

all the above responders seem to ignore that its about a single now-and for that you likely cannot beat AA. Those US-bases airls like former NWA, now DEL, are nearly as good for RETURN.

But it never hurts to call 2-3 tr-agents for a quote-and tell that price is more imptt as date then. ALSO tell its for a returning JPNese-this may open some otherwise hidden fareclasses. AA is always cheapest if booked via their site (the holder of the cr-cd does NOT need to travel!) and if carefully the add-ons are chosen-or refused. The whiners about AA are mostly people who cannot read. Note that AA is via KUL-not direct from BKK. AND they currently have yet another sale on-untill 2/12.

Skyscanner is not just for Apple devices.

Skyscanner.net is good for checking airfares across all airlines.

OP - Air Asia is probably your best bet for a one way ticket. Nothing wrong with them, and they are usually the cheapest.

As others have pointed out, it will be via KL - if your wife's friend doesn't mind the longer trip - then I'd book Air Asia if it is cheaper than the direct options.

Dont wast your time with Airasia,,, The worst airline around... Lots of hidden charges... Check Very carefully.....

"Lots of hidden charges..." cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

It always amazes me that some travelers have such difficulty in selecting "decline" on the few options on the Airasia site.
