Gov 5Th Year Car Inspection Out Of Provence

Featured Replies

We have a vehicle that is coming up to its 5th Birthday, meaning that this year it is required to have one of those Government road worthy inspections at re-newal time.

We have moved province since buying this vehicle. It does not need to change “province” on its number plates (tags) in Thailand when you move. This is 100% legal and common practice in Thailand. (Your Driving License you must change)

Last year we paid the annual registration bill in the province we now live in (different province written on the cars plates) and was issued with the paper work and the (sickerless) sticker to put on the front wind-screen.

For the 5 year inspection, can we do it out of provenience that is written on its plates or do I have to drive 3 hours?

The blue book address ID of the owner is not the same provenience anymore that the car was first registered in.

Thanks, folks.

Shouldn't be a problem. We live in a different province than where the car is licensed and do everything locally. The inspection taht we do is only "paperwork" as everything is handled by our insurance agent and the car has never been to an inspection station. TIT!

What is the 'vehicle'

If it is a motorcycle then yes inspection required after 5 years, but if a car or pickup then only needed after 7 years.

Can be done at any registered inspection station or as wayned suggests by insurance agent without visit.

The province bit throwing me off, but vehicle inspections are at 7 years, or this is what they did here in Samui.

It is a D-max pickup, great news on the 7 years, I will most likely replace it in the next 2 years anyway.

I am amazed with the fuel consumption of these on the highway, in a good way. I average 13.7km/L for a 3L turbo donk. That is heaps better than the smaller engine camry. Unleaded vrs diesel may be the reason? it sucks around the city though !!!!
