Subaru Xv

At that price I would go the Volvo V40 Cross Country. The interior is light years ahead of the xv and the T5 engine is sweet.

3 year warranty and 5 years free servicing.

But the Volvo V40 Cross Country here is only 2WD.. the XV is AWD
Not a deal breaker. The xv isn't a real off road vehicle and would opt for a local made car for that purpose.

Having owned a couple of imprezas here I would not go that path again without a proper service division.

Motor images warranty program isn't worth the paper it's printed on and parts are comparable with Mercedes Benz parts in price.

Service is bad, lack of service divisions nationwide and parts availability here is a joke.

Subaru Thailand (Motor Image) never again.

Save yourself the headache and buy something with service and warranty and a good dealer network.

motor image is the only dealer here?

Good post though, its only through members experiences posted here that we learn.

They are the official Subaru Thailand. Rest are just grey market with less dealer networks. No thanks.

ok didn't know that thanks.
GT cars is one example of this.

They have every Xv in stock but the cars are from Motor image Thailand on consignment.

Motor image are useless. They do no marketing whatsoever in Thailand as it's actually Singaporean owned.

They were doing this lip service of dealer networks opening up nationwide back in 2006 when I bought the first one, 8 years later and nothing has changed.

Any more detailed information on this? Would you care to elaborate please?

thanks

Hyundai Tucson soon here without the full Import Tax maybe a good deal ? [understand will start at under 1 million.. present one as a full Import starts at 1.3 -1.8 million]

The Newspaper we cannot name + many other sites and Owners Clubs.. Thailand will be supplied from Malaysia and Indonesia, therefore cutting out the Full Import Duty.. eg: already here in showrooms is the New Elantra and the start price is now only 749.000 baht.

in above newspaper also say's different models in different stories + the New to Thailand i10 [the baby model]

Well, there are Subaru official dealers in both chiangrai and chiangmai covering the north - and I live in chiangmai. The only actual owner of a xv who's commented here is full of praise for the chiangmai service.

That's terrific for those in the North.

I'm at the opposite of the spectrum. The south.

Please comment when you need something replaced and how quick they get the parts in.

You'll get a shock.

As for other replacement car models, we are currently working on the new Toyota Vios (not sure about the release date though).

Also other updates on the way for Toyota Hilux (minor change), Toyota Camry (minor change), Toyota Corolla (New Model, 2014, but no one really cares it seems smile.png)

There are talks about a new Toyota Eco-Car it seems. We haven't gotten the English manual yet, but it seem Daihatsu and Toyota Japan are talking about this.

Our head office in Japan told me that it might be based on the Daihatsu Bo-on, but that's just gossip for now.

Have you heard anything about up-dating the Fortuner ? l am looking at buying one now.

You seem to be complaining about a lack of service and parts but you owned a couple of impreza's. Aren't these grey import cars? I'm not surprised that parts were expensive and hard to get. If it was a WRX that would also mean a high performance model and needing specialist knowledge to work on them. The parts would need to come from Japan and be subject to full duty.

The XV is a much more mainstream car for Subaru, parts are cheaper, from the service items I have had done anyway it seemed reasonable.

Anyway, Subaru is not a mainstream brand anywhere in the world. That is one of the reasons I like them.

bkkjames, thanks for the comments. The smaller size of the XV suits my needs much better - also I'm strapped for cash right now and Subaru has a 0% financing offer on the XV just now.

nice, same with the forester. When I looked at the XV when it first came out, no such 0% was on offer so with 25% down it worked out to 23,000 per month over 48 which is more than I could afford.

picked one up at the Motor Show. 10% discount, 4 years at 0% and a few extras. picking it up in 2 days.

downloaded 4500 pages of service manual, in case i need it whistling.gif

dark grey metallic, like this one:

Took ownership on Christmas day, love it too!

Drove crvs and fortuners frequently on long trips (company cars). My other car is a captiva diesel. The subaru beats them all in handling. Power? Don't know yet. Still 500 km on the clock and running it in. Surely won't beat diesel power but already have the captiva if craving for it. Interior is bland and all the effort of subaru has been on the drivetrain. Chose it over the newer look (and 2wd) of the cx5 2.0. Also quite happy of the 10% discount and the 4 years 0%.

Going to get killed on resale and aftermarket parts. Hopefully you live close to a dealership as there are so few. Yes, I agree diesel is far more desirable...

as for the resale value, not an issue. will keep it for a looong time.

aftermarket parts? don't need any junk to weigh it down.

dealership is near. warranty is 5 years. after that service will be done by yours truly.

And if the design language is similar to that of the new Vigo, it will be a handsome return to a more chunky and manly vehicle, similar to the Ford design language. These curvy Nissans, Mazdas and Mitsus are making me dizzy. blink.png

Yep. The new PJS looks a little more edgy than curvy too, due to some sharp-edged narrow-but-long lamp styling. Actually, from behind, the new PJS and new 'Tuna look kinda related ;)

bringing this back on topic,

Subaru has slashed prices of all models, details:

http://m.manager.co.th/Motoring/detail/9580000017220

http://www.subaruxvthailand.com/forum/index.php?topic=484.0

talking about the XV in particular, the owners are pi$$ed, especially the ones that bought the first batch a few years back (about 7000 cars)

Their cars have lost market value overnight. I'm in this group too facepalm.gif

Let's see what Subaru decides to do (or not do....) wai2.gif

I have to admit the BRZ for 2M neat is interesting...

As for what will they do? Probably nothing. With only 7000 units sold, their focus is going to be on attracting new customers, not retaining the old. The fact is, it probably doesn't impact resale value that much anyway - they weren't fantastic to begin with.

I can see why the owners are upset. The XV was at the top of my list and I really wanted one but looking at other cars above and below, I felt the car was over priced for the features and options that it had. I felt it should be around 1 to 1.1 to compete with the cars with similar features and options.

At the current price it would be the one I would have bought.

The most I've ever put down for a deposit here is 5k

Yes for common garden vehicle's yes. A Subaru XV is special order and so if ordered hard to sell if no one wan't the color ordered.

why is it a special order at a Subaru dealer...the XV is the common garden Subaru!

Yes could be common garden but what if you wanted in a green color and it's not in stock wouldn't that be a special order, so if that was the case why would they refund a deposit.

Would it seem reasonable they'd refund the deposit once they sold the "special" car?
