School Gives Stay Permit Cancellation - But Ed Visa Expires Later

Featured Replies

I will graduate on 19JAN13 from my graduate school.

My ED Visa was extended by my school in November and expires on 31JAN13.

My school issued a note to all non-Thai students that on 19JAN13 Thai Immigration will be told to cancel the Stay Permits for all graduating students.

Here's where I'm confused.

Does my ED Visa stay good through the stamped date in my passport of 31JAN13?

Or will it be cancelled as of 19JAN13?

If it is cancelled on 19JAN13 how long do I have to get a new Visa or leave?

Thanks everyone.

If you are currently on an extension of stay, after the reason for the extension of stay is cancelled on Jan 19th, your visa extension to Jan 30th will be cancelled as well. It's irrelevant that the stamp in your passport says Jan 31st. leave the country on or before the 19th to avoid an overstay fine.

Moving to Visa forum.

As said your permission to stay ends on the 19th and you are required to visit immigration on that date with letter from school to officially cancel your extension and immediate depart the country or pay 1,900 baht for a 7 day pack-out period.

Seems blunt but I guess thems the rules.
