Viper
Im a UK citizen now planning on getting married up to my Thai fiancée. Ive heard that getting married in Thailand requires a birth certificate with an Apostille stamp, however I can not find this documented anywhere. Is this the case as there rather expensive things the order? https://www.ukofficialservices.co.uk/BirthCertificateOrder.aspx Many thanks
Upnotover
I didn't need one (May 2011), just the affirmation of freedom to marry from the UK embassy.
theoldgit
Same here, no birth certificate required, just the normal 27 copies of my passport.
Bagwan
If you have previously been married you will need a copy of the decree absolute. A copy of the decree nisi will not suffice. On the other hand if you are a widower I assume a copy of your previous wife's death certificate will be required. As stated above, I also had to produce copies of my passport. Mario2008
The only thing you need besides the passport is your freedom to marry letter form your embassy. Your embassy decides which documents they will want to see to issue the letter.
chiang mai
If you have previously been married you will need a copy of the decree absolute. A copy of the decree nisi will not suffice. And not just a copy, an original copy, one with the red stamp on it.
TommoPhysicist
You only need your Full Birth Certificate for a UK passport for your children. They cost 9.25UKP from the GRO online store (overseas postage included) and take about 5 weeks to get to Thailand. http://www.gro.gov.u...tes/default.asp Not needed for marriage, but you might like to plan ahead. @OP Your original link is not the official UK government site, but a money making machine. I hesitate to say scam site. Edited November 30, 2012 by TommoPhysicist
Viper
@Tommo what about if the child is from another father?
