Getting A New Passport After Buying The Ticket

If you buy an international ticket and decide to get a new passport as the old one is lost, full of visas or just trashed from getting wet to many times, is this a problem for the airlines ?

What i think, As long as you have Visa, Airlines cant do anything and if you have lost passport of course you need to consult with your Embassy :)

When you buy the ticket you need a passport with 6 months after the ticket date before it expires, or some systems reject it.

if you have a new passport, same name and DOB etc, is it a problem if you just turn up with it, or do you need to have a new ticket issued normally?

Contact the airline, some will want to know in advance that you have a new passport.

If you're not already, become a member of their FFP, and then you can change your profile online. Some ask for your passport details some don't.

Simple answer NO, your new passport details at check in will over ride stored data.

Long answer, Some countries require APIS Advanced Passenger Information System, which means the manifest is batched and sent a few days before departure-no fly list and all that fun stuff, so airlines collect the data at the time of booking. It is also used to ensure the name matches the passport name and for CC authorisation to cut down on fraud.

What is your destination ? Australia has a different set of rules the way the data is collected and sent.

As Yermanee stated join the FFP and your data is kept up to date, also should ease check in.

The airline told me their will be no problem if the Name and DOB is the same to present the new document at check in.
