December 12, 201213 yr I'm looking to buy a sound bar for my Sony Bravia TV.I used to have a Samsung BR player with it's own speaker system but I sold it before moving here.I use a Popcornhour nmt and I've got tons of music and videos on there but listening to music through the TV is crap.I really need to get myself a sound system again,so does anybody have any suggestions for a sound bar around the BKK area ?. Cheers Vinny
December 13, 201213 yr Hard choice for soundbars, especially Thailand. Cheapest options here are LG's, Samsung's. they are average but cheapish. Next step up I would probably go Yamaha but expect 35k-50k for those here Last choice i would go Bose. They have the lifestyle 135 which is very decent for a 2.1 soundbar. There is also the new cheaper Bose sound bar which sounds pretty decent in smallish rooms. Problem with BOSE here is the 80% markup. It is way cheaper to fly airasia to HK buy Bose system there and bring it back in your suitcas. Half the price. Or order from amazon.com using Shipito.com Edited December 13, 201213 yr by negreanu
December 13, 201213 yr There's quite a few options out there, but by the time you get into units that might be half-way decent for music playback you're getting way up there in price. Here's some links: http://piyanas.com/showroom/en/product.html?page=shop.browse&category_id=4 http://www.stereohouse.co.th/%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%84%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%B2/Audio/Digital-Sound-Projector http://www.tohome.com/catalog.aspx?catalog_id=932 I've only ever properly auditioned the B&W Panorama, and it was only on a movie soundtrack (not music), and even then I was pretty underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing what they've done in such a small form factor, but it's a bit like their Zeppelin iPod speakers - it really only sounds good when you're being forgiving of their size. Once you stop looking at them and instead compare their sound against other options for the money, you realize that there's a large price to pay for the form factor. Is there any reason you couldn't do a simple 2.0 system with a pair 6" bookshelf's and an amp? The mid-range-level in soundbars appears to be ~30K Baht - if it were me spending that money I'd opt for something like a pair of KEF Q300's (which are shockingly good for the money, IMHO) and a cheaper 2.0 amp or maybe even a lower end 5.1 AVR..

If I was to be perfectly honest I'd rather have a 2.0 system.I just thought a sound bar would use up less space but I didn't realize they were so dam_n expensive. The old Samsung 2.0 system that I used to have had amazing sound.I was all into the 5.1 when I had one but once I switched to 2.0,and found that I could get the same (if not better) sound from two speakers I was a happy camper.I suppose I need something soon to drown out the crap music that my neighbours are constantly playing
December 16, 201213 yr @OP thread is 3~4 months old... but will give you some insite There are always more promotions... get one of these and only use 2.1 Hope it helps.
January 2, 201313 yr Do you need surround. or pseudo surround? Unless you are into movies? Not that many TV programmes offer surround anyway.
January 3, 201313 yr I just got a sound system. I highly recommend Piyanas hi fi. I got a low end Yamaha amp and 2 nice little bookshelf speakers. I plan on adding to it one day. Soundbars there was a lack of choices here; I like the sonys but they simply dont have them, and you can't "build" on them either of course.
January 14, 201313 yr I picked up one from MBK at the AV shop on the right as you walk into the 3rd floor from station level
