Social Security Income Rules

Featured Replies

About to file for SS at 62 and I know about the income limitation, about $15k.

Question is if I earn more than $15k, are these wages earned in Thailand is or is not exempt form this rule

I'll be heading in the same direction within several years and I checked with my CPA earlier this year on some income advices and;

I believe income (wages) earned' is based on the (your) W2 filing. Othr. incomes from bank interest, stock investment, retirement pay i.e. (1099 I,R,)

should not apply into the SS# limit of $15K. As to any income from oversea's, unless you file a W2/1040 for it, it probably wouldn't affect your SS. But I would double check with a Tax account or CPA.

Definitely check with your CPA or do more google searching as we Americans all know Uncle Sam taxes your worldwide income with few exceptions...and I expect that same worldwide income concept applies to SS benefits.
