Photofit image of Russian assault suspect released by Pattaya Police

PATTAYA: -- As the investigation into the case of two Russian Female Tourists who were abducted, robbed and sexually assaulted continues, Pattaya Police have now issued a Photofit of the man who is thought to have conducted the sexual assaults and they are sure he resides somewhere in the Pattaya area.

Police Major General Katcha, the Chonburi Provincial Police Commander held a brief press conference on Sunday afternoon at Pattaya Police Station which is now the “Command Center” for the investigation and is utilizing resources from Pattaya Police, Pattaya’s Tourist Police, Chonburi Forensic Police and other Provincial Police Investigation units.

With the news that the two victims will be returning to Russia on 4th January the pressure is on, although the General made it clear on Sunday that he expects arrests to be made soon but they may take some time.[more...]

Too bad the police dont take all crimes as seriously. Guess the Russian press made such a big stink, that the police just had to do something, to save face. Of course the Russian tourist industry probably got on the police as well, maybe other nationalities should do the same.

Possibly there is some forensic evidence that will provide a certainty if and when someone is taken into custody. Seems that would prove beyond a reasonable doubt if available.

I presume if he is arrested after the 4th of January no action will be taken as the Russians will no longer be here ?

Can't have a court case if they refuse to return to testify

According to this logic, no murderer could ever be tried. DNA is fine evidence. It's now about saving the country's face and tourism.
